Smith & Wesson 22A

I had the chance to shoot a Smith & Wesson 22A over the weekend.

I have been looking for a good .22LR semi-auto pistol and considered the 22A. My shooting of this pistol definitely placed the S&W in the top 3 for considering. The owner has reported that it has been very reliable and accurate.

Years ago I had a Ruger Mk II and loved it. I would buy another no problem - except it is the most expensive pistol of the bunch I am looking at. The S&W felt very similar to the Ruger - I liked it.

Trigger was smooth as was the controls. The only criticism I had was the sights. Being that the front post as well as the rear sight are totally black - targeting a dark object was difficult.

Hope to pick up a new .22LR pistol within a month or so.

Any suggestions?

Here is an awesome video  - very informative - on the Smith & Wesson M&P15-22.  Unlike most of the M&P video's on YouTube - this one actually gives you solid information on the gun.

Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 first impressions

I spent several hours today shooting my recently acquired M&P15-22 and thus far am very impressed. I have been wanting this firearm for sometime. Why? 'Cause - that's it.

I will be doing a full review here as well as on my other blog but wanted to mention a few things here first.

  • The M&P has a very definite feeling of quality to it. Materials and manufacturing appear to be first rate.
  • It has been super reliable. I am keeping up with rounds fired and will be doing additional testing for the review. I have been using only one magazine so this has slowed things down (left my two spares at home).
  • It is flat out fun to shoot!!!!
More to come soon.
